It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Molly Thul, a beloved mother, sister, daughter, friend, co-worker, and activist, who died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 2nd, 2025. Molly passed away doing what she believed in—fighting for workers’ rights and advocating for those who needed a voice. Her unwavering dedication to justice, her deep love for her children, and her commitment to her community left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

A Devoted Mother and Fierce Advocate

Molly’s greatest joy and pride in life were her children. She loved them unconditionally, spoke of them often, and devoted herself to their well-being and happiness. As we mourn her loss, our priority is ensuring that her children, who were the center of her world, are surrounded by the same love and support that she gave so freely.

Beyond her role as a mother, Molly was a tireless advocate for workers. She started as a union steward and leader and later became a staff member with Unite Here Local 17, where she fought for the rights of MSP airport workers. Her passion for labor rights only grew, leading her to work with OPEIU Local 12, where she represented clerical, school, and nonprofit workers. Her work was more than just a job; it was her mission. She believed deeply in fairness, dignity, and justice, dedicating her life to making the workplace better for so many.

Her colleagues remember her tenacity, compassion, and fierce dedication. Whether she was negotiating for better conditions, standing in solidarity with workers, or offering a listening ear to someone in need, Molly was a force of nature—someone who inspired others to stand up, speak out, and fight for a better world.

A Community Leader with a Heart of Gold

Molly’s impact reached far beyond her advocacy work. She was a pillar of her community, always willing to lend a helping hand and always ready to uplift those around her. She was a passionate supporter of the New Prague Hockey Association, dedicating countless hours to ensuring that young athletes had the opportunity to thrive in a sport she loved. Her presence in the hockey community was felt deeply, and her absence will be immeasurably felt by the many families and players she supported.

Molly also had a huge heart for animals, and she extended her kindness beyond people to those who had no voice—rescuing and fostering dogs through Humble Hounds. She provided a safe haven for dogs in need, offering them love, care, and a second chance at life. It was just another example of her selflessness and unwavering compassion.
